Go: Ski Lake Tahoe

Our Cabin

One of the many perks of living back in California is, of course, the slopes. They are the perfect reason to take a long weekend, fly to San Francisco and road trip to Tahoe with some awesome fellow humans. We got a quaint little cabin equipped with a hot tub, ping pong table and fireplace. It was perfectly cozy! Lots of cooking, wine, music and relaxing. This was my first Tahoe trip, so I was excited to do pretty much anything!

We ended up skiing at Heavenly Resort. Five stars from me! Gorgeous mountain, plenty of terrain (97 runs and 30 lifts! see map) and a great little scene after the lifts closed. It was also a warm sunny day, which always makes skiing better. I particularly liked that you had to take a gondola up from lake level just to get to the base of the Nevada side of the mountain. It really gives you a sense of how big it is. The top lift at Heavenly sits at 10,040 feet. The mountain itself is on the state border, so there is a Nevada side and a California side. Overall, an awesome place to race down a mountain, lounge in a hot tub and consume meals with friends. To many more winter events in cabins!

Never lost this guy thanks to the awesome hat.

View of the Nevada desert from the top of Heavenly.

To the Left: CA snow. To the Right: NV desert.

Taking a much-needed rest on the hike uphill. Yes, I opted to hike to a run because I think I'm tough stuff. Clearly, I become less badass at 10,000ft (if I ever was to begin with).

View from the top!

Beers after a day on the slopes.

Raconte-Moi Une Histoire

by m83

I heard about this frog
It’s very tiny frog
But its also very special
You can only find it in the jungle
So far away from you/me
But if you find it
And if you touch it
Your world can change forever
If you touch its skin
You can feel your body changing
And your vision also!
Blue becomes red, and red becomes blue
And your mummy, suddenly becomes your daddy
And everything looks like a giant cupcake
And you keep laughing, and laughing, and laughing
Nothing is ever quite the same really
And after you finish laughing
It’s time to turn into a frog yourself
Its very funny to be a frog
You can dive into the water
And cross the rivers, and the oceans
And you can jump all the time, and everywhere
Do you wanna play with me?
We can be a whole group of friends
A whole group of frogs
Jumping into the streets
Jumping into the planets
Climbing buildings
Swimming in the lakes, and in the bathtubs
We would be hundreds, thousands, millions
The biggest group of friends the world has ever seen
Jumping and laughing… forever
It would be great, right?

Tao from a Goddess

Recently, I’ve found my beliefs and faith in people challenged both professionally and personally. It was short-lived thanks to reminders from kindred spirits and enlightened souls. Those people that get it…at least in terms I understand. One such women shared the follow Tao Te Ching with me and so I feel compelled to pass it on to whomever else it may speak to in this moment. With love and gratitude.

When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.

Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.

Therefore the Master
acts without doing anything
and teaches without saying anything.
Things arise and she lets them come;
things disappear and she lets them go.
She has but doesn’t possess,
acts but doesn’t expect.
When her work is done, she forgets it.
That is why it lasts forever.
